Dining Room
Application of finishing touches to enable the viewer to best imagine how the room might be used.

Dining Room

Diagnosis

The dining room is often the most neglected room in the house as it is probably the least used or, as in this case used mainly for other purposes, eg as a workspace and storage room.

The window looked unfinished and the room had no focal point.  Also there were too many personal photographs on display. This would distract the viewer from imagining living there themselves.

No major alterations were needed, just de-cluttering and finishing touches, at a minimal cost to the client, resulting in a much more attractive room, and one that would invite the viewer to want to live there.

The Outcome

Costs were kept to a minimum with this project.

The walls were repainted in a lighter colour to harmonise the room and additional lighting created the desired atmosphere.

Plain curtains that complimented the blinds finished dressing the window and gave more privacy to the room.

The clutter was tidied away and the room was depersonalised, safely storing away the photographs and personal items.

The table was dressed with a small dining setting; this could also be just a feature ornament such as a vase, flowers or candles, making a focal point in the room.

Fresh flowers were displayed adding fragrance and life to the room.

The candles created a relaxing feel to the room and the bay window was made into an attractive seating area with complimenting cushions.
